Los Angeles County formal appeals, hardship fee-waiver information and hearing resources. Online application and evidence-submission systems have distinct purposes.
Before you start
- Eligibility & access · Financial-hardship filing-fee waiver
- If the filing fee would cause financial hardship, submit a fee-waiver request with the application through one of the county’s listed channels. [8]
- Availability · Appeal hearing participation
- The county provides in-person and virtual hearing options; follow the instructions for your scheduled hearing. [9]
- Languages · Language assistance and translation
- The county publishes a language-assistance and translation policy for assessment appeals. Review that policy when requesting help. [10]
- Deadlines · 2026 regular assessment appeals only
- For Los Angeles County’s 2026 regular assessment appeal, file July 2 through November 30, 2026. Other appeal types have separate, notice-based deadlines. [1]
- Information & documents · County-specific formal appeal application
- Use the BOE-305-AH application provided by the county where the property is located; a generic sample is not a valid filing. [2]
- Payments · Taxes while an appeal is pending
- Pay property taxes on time while an appeal is pending to avoid penalties and interest. Filing an appeal does not suspend tax payments. [3]
