Read this library system’s own card instructions. Online registration, physical-card activation, residence and youth requirements may differ; use the quoted local conditions below where provided.
Before you start
- Information & documents · Registration, address and children under 18
- Visit any Library location to fill out the registration form on a catalog computer. Provide a valid photo ID with proof of current address. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with valid photo ID/proof of address. [4]
- Eligibility & access · San Joaquin eCard and branch ID upgrade
- San Joaquin County residents may get a Library eCard for access to the Library’s digital collection, online services, and databases. To get an eCard, please call your nearest branch library. Once issued an eCard, customers have immediate access to online resources and will receive their eCard in the mail. Anyone wishing to upgrade an eCard to full borrowing privileges may bring their card and valid ID to one of the 16 SSJCPL branches. [5]
- Availability · Two-year card renewed at branch or by branch phone
- Library cards expire every two years. You may renew your card by calling your nearest branch library or by visiting the Customer Service desk at your nearest library. [6]
- Availability · Lost-card liability and replacement; no amount inferred
- It is important to report your lost or stolen library card promptly. You are financially responsible for all items on your card. We can issue you a replacement so that others cannot use your old card. [7]
Choose the actual provider’s named branch and confirm its posted opening/contact arrangements before travel. Membership and special-card eligibility remain subject to the separate card rules; directory status widgets are not a CountyWiki live-opening guarantee.
