Get disability advocacy support

Get disability advocacy support. Check the named provider’s programme and service area.

Before you start

  • Choose your county to find the providers listed by California SILC. The 28 centres are separate organizations; a branch or regional provider may be in another county.
  • Some service areas use ZIP codes or programme-specific rules. County maps help you browse; they do not establish eligibility at your address.
  • Check the named branch before visiting. Appointment, drop-in, phone and office times differ. The directory shows current quoted contacts and selected local instructions with their sources.
  • State core-service descriptions appear once here. Local intake, capacity, equipment costs and specialized programme eligibility must be checked with the provider. ILC housing and attendant referrals do not guarantee housing, a paid caregiver or a benefit decision.

Programme or provider instructions

Advocacy has two sides: Individual and systems. Individual advocacy means an ILC staff member may accompany a person to medical appointments, housing interviews, Social Security visits or meetings with Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors. Systems change means the ILC may do things like advocate to a transit agency for better routes or buses. ILCs may also help by advocating for curb cuts, street crossings, buildings or anything else that will help all people have equal access to society.
