Find eviction court information

Unlawful-detainer court information and help for landlords and tenants. This directory does not determine a person's legal rights or deadlines.

Before you start

  • Choose the exact case type and court before filing. Court self-help information and a referral do not establish an attorney-client relationship.
  • Court fees, service requirements, response deadlines and exceptions depend on the current procedure. A link is an informational starting point, not a complete filing workflow.
  • Court branches, clerk windows, telephone assistance and remote appearances may have different instructions. Check the cited official page for the applicable channel.

Local Unlawful Detainer / Evictions — source-specific information; other procedures and appeals may differ

We provide this helpful video to both landlords and tenants interested in learning more about the court process of an eviction. It includes information about settling your case without having to go to court. Note: the video incorrectly states that the tenant has 5 days to respond to the landlord's summons and complaint. The new law gives the tenant, if personally served, 10 business days to respond with either an Answer or other responsive pleading.
